Listbuilders like opportunity.com and listfire are great.

Steve Johnson, ListGenesis owner, writes about the ListGenesis unique "Hose" feature:
Listfire is missing the RANDOM feature.
Opportunity.com is famous for it but has NO COMMUNITY WHATSOEVER, not to mention total lack of any sort of downline detail reporting, or much of anything else except the cool sub-domain redirect gadget.
Theoptinlist uses a cool forced matrix approach but reveals people's email addresses to their entire upline, NEVER EVER responds to emails, has no community, no support, and the most bizarre, inexplicable pro plan I've ever seen - which, of course, they steadfastly refuse to answer any questions on.
I've just added what I think is unique in the listbuilding community world: Near total control over your downline placement. I call it the "Sponsor Hose" - alluding to your ability to turn a hose of recruits at an individual at any level in your organization and watch their downline grow. It's akin to the site owner's (me) "top dawg" spot, the lucky possessor of which inherits all the orphan traffic arriving at the site with no affiliate ID. In this case, it becomes a simple re-direct of the actual sponsor from the site member to the member specified in the Sponsor Hose.
Why all this trouble to build a feature like this? If you saw how the architecture of a listbuilding community develops, you'd understand it's importance - a few "hitters" recruit all the people, and in a open-width arrangement like listfire and oppty.com, these massive frontlines occur with the vast majority of the people having NO DOWNLINE, no ability to use the system (because of no downline) and most importantly, LITTLE INCENTIVE TO RECRUIT or a total lack of understanding what they have in their hand. The control over the "hose" changes all that.

Here's my version of the standard ListGenesis letter - the same text, but personalised from me to the reader, with my ListGen subdomain, repeated in my sig block, and with the SIM offer as a PS.
This sort of letter always work well on both VLBs and Safelists.
Even people who don't signup for the offer in this case ListGen - often opt for the free pack.

If you've tried to promote anything online, get traffic to your Web Site, or clicking through your affiliate links then you've been down the same, often discouraging road that I have.
And let's face it, trying to get traffic to our Web Sites just plain stinks!
Most of the ways to get traffic are just too EXPENSIVE. Unfortunately, up until now, if we really wanted to drive a steady flow of traffic to our Web Sites we just had to get used to PAYING FOR IT.
But Not Anymore, now ListGenesis is on the case!
I'm about to SHOW YOU how you can drive all the TARGETED prospects you can dream of to your Web Site - no matter what it is you are promoting. Targeted prospects that will BUY what it is you sell. And, of course, the best part of all -- IT'S COMPLETELY FREE. Yes, that magic word -- "FREE!"
And I'm not just talking about a "one shot" boost of traffic and sales. I'm talking about an evergrowing, multiplying, huge stream of new leads, prospects, and customers for you. This avalanche of visitors to your Web Site can continue to come in even YEARS from now.
Sound too good to be true?
OK THEN, LET ME PROVE IT TO YOU....
